Excellence recognised with internal appointment at Webreality

We’re long-term thinkers at Webreality. Over our twenty two years in business, that philosophy has translated into some startling examples of long service and personal development in our team.

One such story relates to Liam Hennelly, whose name and voice will likely be familiar to you if you are a Webreality client.

Liam joined Webreality in 2004 - pre-history, in internet terms. At the time, Webreality employed just four people. Eighteen years on, and we're delighted to announce that Liam has been appointed to the new role of Head of Technical Services.

A fast learner

Joining straight from a Highlands College IT course, Liam threw himself into learning web development, and quickly became one of the most proficient and prolific web developers working in Jersey. In the late noughties, demand for small business websites was exploding, and Liam’s ability to deliver new sites fast, and to very high standards, was one of the foundations of Webreality’s journey to being a top Jersey digital agency.

World-class clients

He didn’t rest on his laurels, though. He was always pushing to learn, and his deep knowledge resulted in Webreality making serious in-roads into the UK market for large corporate websites. In 2010, his skills were instrumental in helping us deliver a new website for Apax Partners on time, on budget and on specification, a project success that proved to be the start of our path to strategic success in the wider funds market.

A natural problem solver

When you join a business in its early years, you quickly learn the virtues of speed, flexibility and responsiveness. Liam is famous in our team for being willing to turn his hand fast to help solve any problem, whether it’s client-related or something internal.

So when we recently identified the need for the new role of Head of Technical Services, Liam was the obvious internal appointment.

Leading client support services

In his new role, Liam will lead the technical support services that our clients and team depend on day-to-day. His eighteen years of experience as a web developer have given him deep familiarity with all of our technical processes and the technologies we use, and he also has relationships going back many years with many of our clients.

He now oversees the delivery of our client support services, working closely with Dan Morriss, our man on the front line of client support. Liam is also responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of our web hosting infrastructure, and for the tools and processes we use to manage our web and software development services. Crucially, he’s going to be continuing as a web developer for part of the time, in order to make sure his skills remain relevant and up to date.

An example to us all

We’re enormously proud of Liam. His devotion to client service, learning, and supporting his teammates has been an example to us all at Webreality. So I’m delighted to congratulate him publicly on his new role. I know he’ll knock it out of the park.
