Longer Videos on Instagram

Placeit -1

Ever been frustrated by Instagram's 15 second video limit? Well today we bring you good news! Instagram has just announced that it’s increasing the video time limit to 60 seconds.

On its blog Instagram says that in the last six months, the time people spent watching video on the app increased by more than 40 percent. In response, this is a significant update designed to further tempt users away from the traditional video platform of YouTube.

Instagram had already enabled 60 second video adverts, making the platform more appealing for advertisers. Although primarily aimed at individual users, this new move to increase video length is still commercially interesting. With a full minute to play with, clever video producers, small businesses and brands with accounts on Instagram will be able to craft even more elaborate mini-documentaries and content, a one-minute snapshot at a time.

It offers creative, forward-thinking brands and businesses the opportunity to get great content directly into customers’ feeds; to succeed they will need to provide entertainment, information and added value, as well as promoting their products and services.

Instagram stated the update is "rolling out today ... available for everyone in the coming months", which likely means it may only be available to influencers during its initial stage.
